Hello and Welcome to this resource space
Living abroad, especially in midlife, can stretch us in ways we didn’t expect. It’s not only about adjusting to a new country. It’s about identity shifts, starting over (and over) again, parenting between cultures, supporting traveling spouses and the quiet weight many of us carry.
On this resource page I will be sharing books, podcasts, rituals and tools that I still return to when I need perspective, steadiness, some lightness, or a reminder that this in-between life is allowed to feel…complex.
May you find something here that meets you where you are. Whether you’re in the middle of a move, being a newcomer, years into expat life, or simply feeling a little unsettled.
Here is to finding more steadiness and ease while living abroad.
And please check back in here to not miss any updates.

How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works--A True Story - By Dan Harris
Following a live, on-air panic attack, Dan Harris explored mindfulness as a practical, non-spiritual tool to tame his inner critic and reduce stress.
What resonates for me especially as someone living abroad is the reminder that you don’t have to do massive big changes to feel calmer. This book offers grounded tools for busy minds and full lives. It’s written with a certain kind of humour and depth.
Eat to Thrive During Menopause
Managing your symptoms with nourishing foods – By Jenn Salib Huber
Midlife brings many changes…hormonal, emotional, physical. And when we live abroad, those changes can at times feel even heavier and lonelier.
Having something practical and nourishing to turn to can help. Food can become one small anchor when other parts of life feel shifting…good for the mind, body and soul.
Apps
A free app for meditation, sleep, anxiety, and mindfulness.
When you live in-between, your mind can feel constantly “on.”
Living in between often means constant adjustments, different languages, new expectations, and sometimes a sense of loneliness or uncertainty.
Having an easy accessible app helps me slow down, come back to myself and sleep better.
You don’t need to leave the house to stay well and strong.
For expats / newcomers, routines are often disrupted by moves, visitors, school changes, or travel. Having something consistent that supports physical strength has helped me feel more grounded in my body, even when life around me shifts.
Grounding
Foot Reflex Pause
Use your thumb to apply gentle, mindful strokes along the sole of your feet, from the base of the toes to the heel.
Living abroad keeps us on our toes…planning, adjusting, translating, adapting. This small practice brings you back into your body. It’s simple, quiet, and can be done wherever you are.
A gentle way to (re)connect to yourself.
Sidenote
I am not affiliated with any of these resources. I share them simply because they have supported me and many women I work with in navigating long-term expat newcomer life, midlife transitions, …and of finding our footing, again and again, while living abroad.
