Finding Your Ease

Day 2 blog challenge – Freedom

This blog post is in response to Natalie’s 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge Day 2

Day 2 in the blog challenge was all about “how finding a deeper sense of purpose that drives you to live a life of freedom can help you overcome these roadblocks.”

What does Freedom even mean and how free are we indeed? What does freedom mean for me? I found following short definition on vocabulary.com:

“the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints / immunity from an obligation or duty”.

So where does that leave me? Freedom to me right now means to be able to live the life I love. I was blessed to find a partner who loves to move around as much as I do; to take on the challenges – the good and tough ones – that living as an expatriate brings to us and our family for more than 12 years now.

Freedom to me at this stage is to be able to not having to work but to be able to use the free time next to our kids to study and to start creating something meaning full for those who struggle.

I started this with my blog ateaseandmore.wordpress.com – a place to get inspired by ideas, information and thoughts around Wellbeing, Yoga, Fitness and Easy Recipes – a place to feel “at ease”.

But over time I realized I want to take this further, more into the life I live. The reasoning behind is where I see my current way of life as freedom, others do struggle being in that situation. They may not feel free but constricted, limited, misunderstood, misjudged, lost and lonely. Being an expatriate / repatriate often gives the impression that one has no reason to complain, everything is always perfect and easy. The freedom of speech in that situation among family members and friends can be restricted due to a bias outlook on an expatriate life.

Coming back to where my freedom at this stage leads me: It allows me to be able to reach out and to create a place here in Tokyo that lets expatriates and repatriates feel at ease in body and mind. To give this group a space where they can feel strong and grounded by yoga and can then express themselves freely during guided, mediated talks.

Where do you see your freedom?

Have a lovely day
