Summer time – summer drink

IMG_3384

Not the most healthiest drink (if you go for the recipe with alcohol) but putting yourself ‘at ease’ is not all the time about being super healthy. Sometimes we have to kick back and just enjoy!

The first summer days have reached a lot of countries these days, and isn’t it nice to sit down, put the feet up and take a moment to just enjoy and let it be at the end of the day? And how about adding a nice fresh summer drink to the mix.

Lemon, mint and ice – this mixture screams summer! I am not a fan of recipes with a lot of ingredients, same counts for a drink. Therefore this one pleases me just fine, quick and easy and so tasty!

So here are two Mojito recipes one with alcohol found under allrecipes.com and one non-alcoholic version, found under food.com.

Mojito

Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

Non alcoholic Mojito

  • crushed ice
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 3 ounces lime juice
  • 1 1⁄2ounces sugar syrup
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • garnish with mint

Fill a pint glass 1/3 full with ice, then add mint leaves. Add the lime juice and sugar syrup. Lightly mash the leaves together with the liquid using a muddle stick or wooden pestle, careful not to tear the leaves. Fill the glass with more ice, then add club soda. Garnish with mint, serve, and enjoy!

Kick back and enjoy, and feel free to share your summer drink!
